Susan Falls is a Professor of Anthropology at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since 2007, with prior roles including Visiting Assistant Professor at Temple University (2005–2007). Her research spans cultural anthropology, material culture studies, and visual anthropology, with notable projects on breast milk sharing, textile politics, and diamond symbolism. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from CUNY, an M.A. from Hunter College, and a B.A. in Philosophy from UNC Chapel Hill.
She has received numerous awards, including the Dean’s Award for Collaborative Teaching (2015) and Wenner-Gren Foundation Hunt Postdoctoral Award (2015). Falls has also led exhibitions like White Gold: Projections and Possibilities (2017) and co-authored influential works such as Clarity, Cut and Culture (2014). Her professional service includes leadership roles in the Society for the Anthropology of North America and editorial roles in journals like Anthropology News.
