Susan Emmenegger

Prof. Dr. Susan Emmenegger is a Full Professor for Private and Banking Law at the University of Bern, where she serves as Director of the Institute of Banking Law and Co-Director of the Institute of Private Law. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Cornell Law School and actively contributes to academic governance as a Dean of the Law Faculty (until 08/2026) and a member of the Executive Board of the World Trade Institute.

Her research focuses on banking law, corporate governance, financial regulation, and legal theory. Emmenegger has held visiting professorships at institutions such as NYU Law School, the European University Institute Florence, and WU Vienna. She contributes to editorial leadership as Editor-in-Chief of the Swiss Review of Business Law and co-editor of the Journal of Legal Practice and Education.
