Susan Driver

Susan Driver is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication & Media Studies at York University. She earned her PhD and MA in Social and Political Thought from York University and a BA in Political Science from the University of Toronto.

Her research examines representations of gender and sexuality through critical and creative frameworks. She investigates marginalized aspects of women's social and historical experiences within scientific, popular, and policy discourses. Her graduate work focused on queer mothering through self-representation practices.

Current research analyzes youth cultures, particularly young women's sexuality representations in mass media, and grassroots responses through youth-produced videos, e/zines, and performances. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates diverse knowledge fields and representation styles.
