Susan Clark

Susan Clark is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Physical Education at Rhode Island College, where she has been a faculty member since 2006 and received tenure in 2011. She serves as the Coordinator of the Health Education Teacher Preparation Program and is actively involved in curriculum development and accreditation efforts for health education programs.

Her educational background includes an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Argosy University, a C.A.G.S. in Education from Plymouth State College, an M.Ed. in Health Studies from Springfield College, and a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology & Exercise Science) from Plymouth State College.

Susan Clark's research and professional focus centers on innovative teaching strategies in health education, particularly in mental health topics such as depression, suicide prevention, and stress management. She emphasizes skills-based learning, the integration of literature into health curricula, and effective assessment methods. Her work supports both pre-service teachers and K-12 health education practices.

She also contributed to NCAA Alcohol Education Grant reports from 2008–2010. She teaches a wide range of courses including Human Sexuality, Personal Health, Assessment in Health Education, Managing Stress and Mental/Emotional Health, and capstone experiences for student teachers.

She has delivered numerous conference presentations nationally and internationally, often focusing on practical strategies for teaching challenging health topics with confidence and creativity.
