Dr. Susan (Shufen) Pan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Science at Boston College. She leads the GeoAI Lab and serves as Research Director of the Center for Earth System Science and Global Sustainability and the Global Carbon Project Boston Office.
Her research focuses on environmental sustainability challenges at the intersection of GeoAI, Remote Sensing, Environmental Systems Modeling, and Water-Food-Ecosystem Nexus. She integrates geospatial technologies with machine learning to address global issues such as water and food security, land use change, and ecoystem resilience, supported by grants from NSF, NASA, EPA, NOAA, DOT, and USDA.
