Suranjali Tandon serves as Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), leading research on direct taxation and sustainable finance. She actively shapes national policy as a member of the T20 task force on “Refuelling Growth: Clean Energy and Green Transition”, special invitee to the Ministry of Finance’s sustainable finance task force, and expert advisor to the International Financial Services Centre Authority’s sub-committee.
Her academic credentials include a PhD in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, and the prestigious Chevening Financial Services Fellowship (2019) at King’s College London.
Dr. Tandon’s research centers on Sustainable Finance, Taxation, and Just Transition frameworks, with emphasis on mobilizing investments for equitable climate action. Her work bridges fiscal policy and environmental sustainability, addressing critical gaps in India’s net-zero transition through public finance mechanisms and green investment strategies.
Her 2023 publication “Just Finance India” establishes foundational pathways for financing India’s just transition, reflecting her focus on integrating climate considerations into fiscal policy design and financial system reforms.
