Suraj S. Cheema

Suraj S. Cheema is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. He is also a Principal Investigator in the MIT Research Laboratory of Electronics. His research focuses on ferroelectric materials and devices to advance energy-efficient computing and sustainable microelectronics through atomic-scale material design.

Education:

• B.S. in Applied Physics & Applied Mathematics from Columbia University (Francis Rhodes Prize recipient)
• Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) from UC Berkeley
• Postdoctoral research in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at UC Berkeley

Research interests include engineering ultralow power logic transistors, ultrahigh energy storage capacitors, and next-generation electronic devices. His work bridges materials science and electronics to address sustainability challenges in microelectronics.
