Suraj S. Cheema is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. He is also a Principal Investigator in the MIT Research Laboratory of Electronics. His research focuses on ferroelectric materials and devices to advance energy-efficient computing and sustainable microelectronics through atomic-scale material design.
Education:
- B.S. in Applied Physics & Applied Mathematics from Columbia University (Francis Rhodes Prize recipient)
- Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) from UC Berkeley
- Postdoctoral research in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at UC Berkeley
Research interests include engineering ultralow power logic transistors, ultrahigh energy storage capacitors, and next-generation electronic devices. His work bridges materials science and electronics to address sustainability challenges in microelectronics.
