About
Dr. Suping Zhou is a Research Professor in the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Engineering at Tennessee State University's College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Sciences. She directs a research laboratory focused on the genetics, physiology and molecular biology of abiotic stress in plants. Her lab conducts multiple projects including aluminum stress responses in tomato, cellulolytic function characterization in Bacillus cereus, metagenomic cloning of cellulase genes, organic strawberry production, and abiotic stress studies in switchgrass and foxtail millet.
Her research employs cutting-edge techniques including proteomics, transcriptomics, genetic transformation, and metagenomics to understand plant stress adaptation mechanisms and develop improved crops. With over 20 significant publications, her work spans plant stress physiology, molecular biology, and genetic engineering approaches for crop improvement.
Dr. Zhou received her Ph.D. in Agriculture from Nanjing Agricultural University and has been recognized with awards including Outstanding Research Scientist at TSU and inclusion in Who's Who in America.
