Suntrea Hammer

Suntrea Hammer, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Director of Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology. She completed her MD at the University of Michigan and pursued advanced training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, with fellowships in surgical and gastrointestinal/liver pathology.

Her research focuses on gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma, quality improvement in oncology care, and the effects of neoadjuvant therapy on gastrointestinal and pancreatobiliary carcinomas. Professional roles include Vice President of the Texas Society of Pathologists, leadership in USCAP, ASCP, and USGIP, and mentoring through the Bain Fellowship and medical student rotations.
