Sungyun Lim is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Modern Korea/Japan at the University of Colorado. Her research focuses on women, family, and legal history in modern East Asia, with current projects on property rights over burial sites and domestic adoption practices in Korea.
Education: B.A. and M.A. from Seoul National University (Korea), and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Notable works include Rules of the House: Family Law and Domestic Disputes in Colonial Korea (2019).
Awards include the Korean Foundation Fellowship, Japan Foundation Fellowship, and Kyujanggak Fellowship. She has held fellowships at UCLA and Seoul National University.
