Sung-Won Yang is Professor of Cello at Yonsei University School of Music in Seoul and serves as Artistic Director of LG Chamber Music School. An acclaimed concert cellist, he has performed globally in prestigious venues including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Salle Pleyel in Paris, and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
His recording career includes critically acclaimed albums featuring works by Kodály, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, and complete Bach Solo Suites and Beethoven Sonatas. He regularly commissions contemporary works and has collaborated with renowned musicians including Christoph Eschenbach, Myung-Whun Chung, and Yuri Bashmet.
Professor Yang graduated from the Paris Conservatory and Indiana University where he studied with Janos Starker. He serves as juror for international competitions including the Banff International Chamber Music Competition and Andre Navarra International Cello Competition.
