About
Raman I. Sujith is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and a Hans Fischer Senior Fellow at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). His research focuses on thermoacoustic instabilities, non-normal dynamics, and combustion system analysis. He holds a B.Tech. (1st rank) from IIT Madras (1988), an M.Sc. from Georgia Tech (1990), and a Ph.D. from Georgia Tech (1994). Notable roles include Humboldt Fellowships at DLR Göttingen (2000–2001) and TUM (2004).
His research investigates transient growth mechanisms in thermoacoustic systems, challenging classical modal analysis paradigms. Key areas include optical diagnostics of flow and combustion, with emphasis on non-linear and non-normal effects. Awards include INAE Fellowship (2007), Swarnajayanti Fellowship (2005–2006), and the Young Engineer Award (2002).
