Sujane Wu

Sujane Wu is a Professor of Chinese Language & Literature at Smith College, where she teaches classical Chinese literature, culture, and all levels of Mandarin Chinese. Her courses include The Culture of the Lyric in Traditional China, Chinese Poetry and the Other Arts, and Dream of the Red Chamber, with collaborations with the Smith College Botanic Garden and Museum of Art.

• Research focuses on early medieval Chinese poetry and its intersections with music and visual arts
• Specializes in literary translation and pedagogical approaches to Chinese language education
• Active in cultural outreach through poetry chanting performances

Her recent publications include academic reviews and open-access educational projects. Wu is developing future courses on Chinese tea and food culture literature while maintaining teaching roles in advanced Mandarin pedagogy.
