Sue Pell serves as Interim Head of the Department of Communications & The Arts and Professor of Communications at Richmond, The American International University in London. She joined Richmond in Fall 2012 following a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Goldsmiths College, University of London, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
Her academic credentials include an interdisciplinary PhD from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada.
Research interests span public discourse, social movements, urban politics, and radical archives. She investigates collective identity, rhetoric, public space, and social transformation through interdisciplinary lenses of communications, cultural studies, sociology, and urban studies. Current work examines anti-gentrification campaigns in Vancouver and London, analyzing knowledge production, democracy, and the politics of the archive in relation to rights to the city.
