Sue Parrish serves as Artistic Director of Sphinx Theatre Company and holds a Research Fellow position through the Artist Research Fellowship Scheme at the School of English and Drama, Queen Mary University of London. Sphinx Theatre Company, founded in 1973 as The Women's Theatre Group and renamed in 1990, has championed women in the arts for over 40 years through innovative productions, conferences, and research initiatives.
Her research focuses on feminist theatre and advancing women's representation in performing arts. She has directed premieres of seminal works including April de Angelis' Playhouse Creatures, Pam Gems' The Snow Palace, and Bryony Lavery's Goliath. Her leadership extends to major collaborative projects such as the Vamps Vixens and Feminists and Glass Ceiling conferences with the National Theatre, Young Vic, Southbank Centre, and West Yorkshire Playhouse, culminating in the recent Women Centre Stage Festival at the National Theatre.
