Subramaniam Mythily

Dr. Subramaniam Mythily is an Associate Professor affiliated with the National University of Singapore, holding concurrent appointments at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. She serves as Director of the Research Division and Lead Investigator of the Programme of Mental Health Policy Studies at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Singapore, and works as a consultant with the Ministry of Health, Singapore.

• Education: MBBS (Lady Hardinge Medical College, India), PhD in Gambling Studies (Monash University), Master of Health Sciences Management, and Doctorate in Medicine (Biochemistry).

With over 15 years in mental health research, Dr. Subramaniam specializes in psychiatric epidemiology, focusing on mental health policy, addiction, and psychosis. Her work includes leading large-scale national studies such as the Singapore Mental Health Study and the Well-being of the Singapore Elderly study, which examine prevalence rates, risk factors, and economic impacts of mental disorders.

Her recent publications highlight research trends in addiction epidemiology (gambling, smoking, alcohol), mental health policy evaluation, and qualitative studies of hoarding behaviors. She has over 300 peer-reviewed publications and serves as a reviewer for multiple international journals.
