Subhasish Dey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick since January 2019. Previously, he held roles at the University of York (2017-2018) and New College of the Humanities, London (2016-2017). He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Manchester (2016), an MA in Development Studies from the ISS in The Hague (under Erasmus University Rotterdam), and an MSc in Economics from the University of Calcutta.
His research focuses on Applied Microeconometrics, Development Economics, Political Economy, and Social Protection Policy. Recent work examines the impact of lockdowns on pandemic outcomes, child immunization effects on educational success, and political influences on welfare programs in India.
- Awards: University Level Best Teaching Award (2015), Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence Nominee (2022), multiple research grants including WISE awards (2021-2023).

His research group collaborates on projects involving intergenerational welfare transfers (e.g., China’s NRSP pension scheme) and partisan politics’ impact on crime rates (U.S. states analysis). Recent supervisees include researchers at J-PAL South Asia, Harvard University, and Deloitte Dubai.
