Su Fu serves as an Assistant Professor in the School of Chinese Language and Literature at Nanjing Normal University, specializing in classical Chinese literary traditions and cultural historiography.
Research focuses on the sociopolitical construction of southern Chinese literary identity through the Chuci (Verses of Chu) anthology. Key investigations examine how Han to Song dynasty (202 BCE-1279 CE) scholars transformed Qu Yuan's works into cultural symbols of displacement, ritual practices, and fallen-state narratives. Methodologies integrate textual analysis of commentaries, prefaces, and imitations with anthologizing practices to reveal how southern identity was strategically constructed for political legitimacy, culminating in Southern Song literati claiming exclusive cultural ownership against northern threats.
