About
Professor Stuart Prescott is a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His research focuses on the interplay between molecular structures at interfaces and their physical properties, with applications in nanoparticle dispersions, energy technologies, and drug delivery systems.
- Education: PhD from CSIRO and the Cooperative Research Centre for Polymers, with postdoctoral work at the University of Melbourne and Marie Curie Fellowship in Bristol.
- Research Interests: Colloid and surface chemistry, polymer science, neutron scattering techniques, and solvent relaxation NMR for characterizing colloidal systems.
- Collaborations: Long-standing partnership with XiGo Nanotools to develop commercial NMR instrumentation (Acorn Area, AreaQuant software).
- Technical Contributions: Designed novel sample environments for neutron reflection experiments to study confinement effects on surface structures.
Scientific Awards:
- Marie Curie Individual Fellowship
Additional Activities: Active in the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) movement, maintaining data analysis tools for the Debian project and contributing to open-source initiatives.
