About
Associate Professor Stuart Murdoch is affiliated with the University of Auckland's Faculty of Science, Department of Physics. His research focuses on nonlinear optics, laser physics, and optical microresonators, with emphasis on temporal cavity solitons, dispersive waves, and Raman/Kerr nonlinearity interactions. He leads a lab developing advanced optical systems such as parametric amplifiers and OCT sources.
Research Interests: Nonlinear fiber optics, laser physics, optical microresonators, frequency combs, temporal cavity solitons, parametric oscillators, and high-performance optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems. For detailed projects, visit his research website.
Publications span experimental and theoretical work on soliton dynamics, symmetry-breaking phenomena, and novel optical devices. He is an active supervisor for postgraduate research in optics and photonics, offering opportunities for NZ and international students.
