Stuart Kelly is the Deputy Head of the Strathclyde Law School and a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Strathclyde. He holds a triple graduate distinction from the Law School: LLB (First Class), LLM (Distinction), and a Diploma in Legal Practice. He is currently pursuing a part-time MBA at Strathclyde Business School.
Previously, he worked as a solicitor in private practice and as in-house counsel for major UK companies. His teaching spans undergraduate LLB, postgraduate Diploma, and Masters programmes. His research focuses on dispute resolution (mediation), legal profession regulation, sport regulation, and widening access to legal education. He co-leads a research project analyzing widening access student performance in LLB degrees at Strathclyde Law School (2020–2024).
He serves on committees of the Law Society of Scotland and previously on Glasgow’s Children’s Panel. He combines sports management (director of a semi-professional football club and community facility) with academic work, launching a successful Sports Law elective module.
