Stuart Jones

Stuart Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Music/Sound and Creativity at the University of South Wales, Faculty of Business and Creative Industries, and a member of the Creative Industries Research and Innovation Group. He serves as Course Leader for the MSc Music Engineering and Production and runs Create | Spatial, South Wales' first immersive audio record label. He also holds external examiner roles at the University of Derby (2020–2025) and The Open University (2015–present).

With over 30 years of experience as a studio engineer, producer, and musician, Stuart's research and creative work bridges music, technology, and heritage. His interests include spatial audio, immersive sound experiences, binaural recording, and the integration of music with cultural sites. He has created works inspired by the Elan Valley and Cathays Cemetery, exploring environmental acoustics and storytelling through sound.

His recent creative outputs reflect a strong trend in immersive audio production, digital music education, and heritage-based sound art. From spatial compositions to online courses in Logic Pro X, his work emphasizes practical innovation and pedagogical application in music technology.

Stuart has been involved in consultancy and academic leadership, including the VRSW Steering Panel. He has contributed to curriculum development and digital learning systems, particularly through his critique of WordPress as an LMS in higher education. His work demonstrates sustained engagement in music pedagogy, creative technology, and academic service.

He leads the Create | Spatial label, which specializes in spatial audio mixes for online distribution, and continues to produce and present innovative audio projects that connect music with place, history, and technology.
