Stuart Davis is a Senior Lecturer in Spanish at Girton College and Affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Cambridge since 2003. His work spans literature, film, and cultural studies with a focus on contemporary Spain.
Research interests include memory, emotions in cultural production, literary canon theory, queer theory, and intersections with museum studies. He has published extensively on authors like Juan Goytisolo, Jorge Luis Borges, and the 'Generación X', with a longitudinal study on pedagogical canonicity in UK Spanish departments.
Stuart supervises doctoral research in contemporary Spanish literature and film. His academic leadership extends to co-editing volumes such as The Modern Spanish Canon and Reading Iberia: Theory / History / Identity.
As Admissions Tutor for Arts at Girton, he engages in outreach with A-level Modern Foreign Language students, including talks on the Spanish Civil War and translation workshops.
