Steven Wilson

Steven Wilson is an Associate Professor of Politics at Brandeis University, with affiliations as Project Manager for the Varieties of Democracy Institute, Chief Technical Officer for DEMSCORE, and Faculty Research Affiliate at the NYU Center for Social Media and Politics. His research examines the intersection of digital technologies and political systems, particularly in post-communist contexts.

• Education: Ph.D. and M.A. from University of Wisconsin–Madison, M.A. from University of San Diego.

Research Interests focus on comparative democratization, cybersecurity, and the influence of social media and digital politics on authoritarian regimes in the post-Soviet world. His work addresses challenges in computational infrastructure and digital governance.

Scientific Awards include a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Varieties of Democracy Institute, Honorary Fellowships at UW–Madison and Brandeis University, and recognition for teaching excellence. He has held visiting professorships at NYU and the University of Gothenburg.
