Steven T. Moga

Steven T. Moga is an Associate Professor of Landscape Studies at Smith College, where he also serves as Director of Landscape Studies. His academic work bridges urban history, planning theory, and cultural landscape analysis.

Moga's research focuses on how urban lowlands shape city form, the evolution of zoning practices, and the cultural dimensions of environmental design. His visual analysis methodology incorporates field photography and cartographic interpretation to examine spatial patterns in urban landscapes.

His recent publications explore topics such as cognitive-environmental research, metropolitan park systems, and waterfront planning. The 2020 monograph Urban Lowlands: A History of Neighborhoods, Poverty, and Planning provides a comprehensive analysis of marginal urban spaces.
