Steven Rita-Procter (he/him) is an Instructor in the Department of English and Film Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. His research operates at the intersection of literature/visual arts and legal theory, focusing on trauma and memory studies, postcolonial/decolonial frameworks, and the ethics of cultural memory.
- PhD in English Literature (York University, 2018)
- Current doctoral research at Osgoode Hall Law School on artist's resale rights, copyright law, and legal/ethical dimensions of appropriation
Research spans interdisciplinary topics including:
- Transitional justice and truth commissions
- Genocide memorials and protest art
- Millennial art collecting practices
- Philosophy of appropriation and plagiarism
