Steven R. Shaw

Dr. Steven R. Shaw is an Associate Professor and Interim Department Chair in McGill University's Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP), within the School of Applied Child Psychology. He directs the Resilience, Pediatric Psychology, and Neurogenetic Connections Lab. Shaw earned his Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Florida in 1991, with prior experience as a school psychologist in school, hospital, and medical settings. His research focuses on pediatric psychology, intellectual disabilities, evidence-based practices, and resilience in at-risk children. He has authored over 220 publications and co-edited seven books, including Reaching and Teaching Students Who Don’t Qualify for Special Education (2022).
