Steven R. Schultze

Dr. Steven R. Schultze is an Associate Professor of Geography and GIS Program Coordinator at the University of South Alabama's Department of Earth Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds degrees from the University of Florida (2008), Western Michigan University (2011), and Michigan State University (2015), all in Geography.

His research focuses on agricultural climatology, exploring interactions between crop production and climate change at global, meso-, and microclimate scales. Notable projects include studies on Michigan's wine industry's climate resilience and statistical analysis in soccer performance metrics. He also founded the USA GIS Center in 2020, which addresses spatial challenges like flood mapping and archaeological studies.

Dr. Schultze's recent publications span viticulture climate modeling, diabetes healthcare trends, and soccer player performance analytics. He actively engages undergraduate students in field and lab research. His work bridges climatology, GIS applications, and sports statistics, emphasizing interdisciplinary problem-solving.

He teaches courses including Climatology, Biogeography, and GIS applications, with roles spanning fieldwork and study abroad programs. The GIS Center continues expanding its community-driven projects across environmental and health domains.
