Steven Matthews

Professor Steven Matthews is a leading scholar in English Literature (Modernism) at the University of Reading's Department of English Literature, part of the School of Humanities. His research focuses on modernism's evolution, modern and contemporary poetries, and figures like Samuel Beckett, Ezra Pound, and T.S. Eliot. He teaches courses on Modernism, Beckett, American literature, and modern poetry.

He has supervised PhD students on topics including Samuel Beckett, contemporary American fiction, and post-colonial poetry.
