Steven Lee

Steven Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of British Columbia (UBC), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts. He serves as Co-Director of the Centre for Korean Research at the Institute of Asian Research (IAR). His research focuses on international relations, Cold War history, US-Korea relations, and 20th-century Korean studies. He holds a D.Phil. from Oxford University (1991).

• Teaching: Twentieth Century Global History, Twentieth Century Korea, International Relations of Great Powers
• Research: Cold War dynamics, US-Korea diplomatic relations, political/social history of East Asian warfare

His notable publications include Outposts of Empire (1996), The Korean War (2001), and the co-edited volume Transformations in Twentieth Century Korea (2006). Current projects involve a study on warfare in modern East Asia and a global history survey.

Lee is actively involved with the Centre for Korean Research, contributing to interdisciplinary studies on Asia-Pacific geopolitics and historical transformations.
