Steven Koehler is a Lecturer in the Theatre Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), where he has taught Acting and Physics at the Milwaukee High School of the Arts since 1993. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from UWM's Professional Theatre Training Program (P.T.T.P.). His training included international experiences in Krakow, Poland; Bratislava, Slovakia; and Sydney, Australia.
His research interests and professional activities focus on performance techniques, theatre education, and on-camera acting. He is best known for his role as 'Lloyd' in Guys on Ice, performed over 1,000 times, including for Wisconsin Public Television. Notable stage credits include The Bridges of Madison County, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Lend Me a Tenor. On-camera work includes roles in The Untouchables TV series, regional commercials, and independent films like June Falling Down.
Steve has been an active member of UWM's P.T.T.P., contributing to its training programs and international collaborations. His teaching philosophy emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, blending theatre arts with STEM education through his physics courses at MHSA.
