Steven J. Hirsch is Professor of Practice in Global Studies and Coordinator for Development and International Affairs concentrations at Washington University in St. Louis. He holds a PhD in Latin American History from George Washington University, MA in Latin American Studies from University of Texas at Austin, and BA in History from University of Michigan. His research examines anarchist movements, labor history, and populism in Peru and the Andean region.
Research explores transnational anarchist networks, indigenous resistance, and ideological intersections in colonial/postcolonial contexts. Current projects include a history of Peruvian anarchism (1885-1932) and an edited volume on Latin American anarchism after the Bolshevik Revolution.
