Steven Gellman is an Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), affiliated with the Department of Philosophy and Humanities within the College of Liberal Arts. He holds dual roles as a Pre-med Consultant in the Health Professions Office and a Volunteer Faculty member at UT Southwestern Medical School. With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Gellman has transitioned from a practicing family physician to academia, integrating clinical experience with medical humanities education. He earned an MD from UT Houston, an MFA in Photography, and completed residencies in Family Medicine. His teaching focuses on Medical Humanities, Ethics, and Healthcare through Film. He directs UTA’s Medical Humanities and Bioethics programs and advises numerous student organizations. Notable awards include the 2021 Advisor of the Year and D Magazine’s 2012 Best Doctor recognition.
