Steven Forrest

Steven Forrest is a Lecturer in Flood Resilience and Sustainable Transformations at the University of Hull's Energy and Environment Institute. Previously, he worked at the University of Groningen, UJEP in the Czech Republic, and Collingwood Environmental Planning in the UK. He holds a PhD in Spatial Planning and Environment from the University of Groningen, focusing on civil society roles in flood governance.

His research emphasizes flood resilience governance, socio-spatial inequalities in flood risk management, and the application of serious gaming in disaster preparedness. Current projects include leadership on the Arriva Foundation-funded post-flood recovery initiative and the MSc Flood Risk Management programme. He leads modules on Flood Resilience, Adaptation, and Incident Management, and has supervised students exploring flood perception, cascading disasters, and climate adaptation.

Notable projects include mapping flood recovery gaps, exploring young people's eco-anxiety, and developing climate engagement through escape rooms. His work bridges academic research with practical applications, focusing on equitable recovery frameworks and citizen involvement in resilience strategies.
