Dr. Steven D Vyce is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as Director of the Yale Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgery Residency Program and Chief of the Department of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. His clinical expertise includes complex foot/ankle trauma, reconstructive surgery, and diabetic foot care. Dr. Vyce has held leadership roles in residency education, serving as Program Director since 2008 and currently chairs the Council on Podiatric Medical Education's Residency Review Committee.
Dr. Vyce earned his BS in Biotechnology from SUNY Oneonta (1992), DPM from New York College of Podiatric Medicine (1996, magna cum laude), and completed a surgical residency at UMDNJ (1999). He has maintained active clinical practice while advancing academic medicine through roles at Yale-New Haven Hospital, VA Connecticut Healthcare System, and various national committees.
His research focuses on vascular outcomes, diabetic wound healing, and surgical innovation. Recent studies address amputation prediction after vascular interventions and novel fixation techniques for forefoot pathologies. His work integrates clinical practice with translational research in tissue repair mechanisms.
