Steven Chamberlain

Steven Chamberlain is a Lecturer in Film and Animation at Birmingham City University, with over a decade of teaching experience across Animation for Games BA, Film and Animation BA, and Visual Communication MA programs.

Steven's research and creative practice centers on experimental film and multimedia art, specializing in hand-crafted techniques using repurposed obsolete equipment. He co-founded Sellotape Cinema (2008) to produce multi-screen projections and experimental documentaries through found sound/footage, with current focus on a feature-length essay film and interactive audio-visual installations that bridge analog and digital media.

Sellotape Cinema serves as his primary creative laboratory, collaborating with artist Stephen Snell to explore tactile filmmaking processes. His academic work integrates decades of painting and multimedia design experience into pedagogy, emphasizing material experimentation and reclaimed technology within film/animation education.
