Steven Barnes is a Professor-in-Residence at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the School of Medicine, with joint appointments in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Neurobiology. He holds a BA and PhD from UC Berkeley (1985) in Neurobiology.
His research focuses on retinal neurobiology, including calcium channel dynamics, GABAergic and dopaminergic signaling, and feedback mechanisms in visual processing. Key areas include molecular neuroscience, cellular physiology, and neurochemical pathways in the retina.
