Steven A. Jones is an Associate Professor and Program Chair in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Louisiana Tech University. He holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego (1985), along with M.S. (1979) and B.A. (1978) degrees from the same institution. His research focuses on Biological Fluid Mechanics, Doppler Ultrasound, Platelet Function, and Vascular Hemodynamics.
Dr. Jones has extensive professional experience, including roles as a Research Associate at the Institute for Micromanufacturing and Johns Hopkins University, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology. He has authored over 30 refereed journal articles and holds patents in biomedical innovations. Notably, he received the W. J. Spinks Professorship (2000–present).
His research interests emphasize hemodynamics in vascular systems, biomedical device development, and nanotechnology applications in controlled drug delivery. He has secured grants totaling over $2 million from NSF and other agencies, including an NSF REU grant for undergraduate research in Micro/Nano Engineering.
