Steve Roberts is a Senior Lecturer in Counselling & Psychotherapy at Newman University’s Faculty of Arts, Society and Professional Studies. His integrative approach combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a person-centred, experiential methodology. He transitioned to academia in 2018 after a career in commercial management and extensive experience in community counselling, addiction rehabilitation, and mental health clinics.
Education: Graduated in History, later completing psychotherapy training and a PhD evaluating a national welfare-to-work programme using CBT to support individuals with anxiety, depression, and stress re-enter the workforce.
Research Interests: Focuses on mental health rehabilitation, addiction recovery, and the application of CBT in vocational contexts. Advocates for the transformative power of education and counselling across all age groups.
