Steve Prashker is a retired Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. With an MSc from McGill University, he managed the Geomatics Laboratories and instructed Cartography Theory & Design. His research focuses on digital cartography, GIS applications, algorithm development, and computer graphics. Prashker developed the MIGS mapping system, ZAPPER cartographic toolset, data conversion utilities, and GeoAnimations GIS algorithm visualizations. He received the Professional Achievement Award for Instructor Employees in 2008 and maintains memberships with the Canadian Cartographic Association.
His publications focus on mobile cartography innovations and computational methods for raster analysis. Recent work includes algorithm development for anti-aliasing and raster polygon measurements.
