Steve Hill

Steve Hill is an Associate Professor in the Department of Professional Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he has taught since August 2007. His academic career spans over two decades, including a prior role as Assistant Professor in Agricultural Communication at Kansas State University (2002-2007).

• Education:
  • PhD in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University
  • MA in Journalism from the University of Texas
  • BA in Journalism (Public Relations) from the University of Texas
• Research Interests: Focus on communication pedagogy, outdoor journalism, and public relations within the context of professional communication and recreation sciences.
• Professional Affiliation: Member of the Wisconsin Outdoor Communicators Association (2017-present).
• Service & Leadership: Active in university governance through Faculty Senate, Faculty Council, and multiple committees; advisor to The Pointer student newspaper since 2013.
• Community Engagement: Outdoors columnist for Portage County Gazette (2015-2018), soccer writer for Central Wisconsin Sports (2015-2019), and volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 293 (2014-2019).
