Steve Gwilym

Steve Gwilym is an Associate Professor and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon affiliated with the University of Oxford and Wolfson College. His academic and clinical work focuses on optimizing outcomes following upper limb injuries, particularly shoulder and tendon disorders.

His research integrates clinical practice and musculoskeletal science, addressing chronic pain mechanisms, outcome measures for upper limb trauma, and innovative treatments for tendon diseases. Key projects include HUSH, PROFHER-2, and CZI tendon seed, with recent publications on nerve block techniques and frozen shoulder pathways.

As part of Oxford Trauma and the SPiRIT group, he collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to translate research into clinical practice. Current affiliations include the British Elbow & Shoulder Society and leadership roles in national consensus studies.
