Steve Folmar

Dr. Steve Folmar is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Wake Forest University specializing in applied cultural anthropology. His research examines issues of social status, development, and health equity, with fieldwork in Nepal, Bangladesh, India, and the United States. He actively supports Dalit communities in Nepal through advocacy and development initiatives.

As Director of the Summer Program in Nepal, he facilitates student engagement with Himalayan cultures. Dr. Folmar serves on the Advisory Committee of the International Commission for Dalit Rights and the Executive Council of the Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies.
