Steve Daniewicz

Dr. Steve Daniewicz is a Professor and Department Head in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at The University of Alabama, College of Engineering, with an adjunct appointment in Mechanical Engineering. He is a recognized leader in materials and manufacturing research and academic administration.

Education:

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Ohio State University, 1991

Dr. Daniewicz's research focuses on cutting-edge areas including additive manufacturing (3-D printing), advanced materials development, computational modeling of materials behavior, fatigue and fracture mechanics, corrosion, durability, foundry operations, and high-resolution materials characterization. His work bridges theoretical and applied mechanics with industrial manufacturing challenges, particularly in structural materials and metal processing.

His professional leadership includes significant contributions to national and international standards development, particularly through ASTM International.
