Dr. Steve Chaddock is an Honorary Lecturer in the School of Architecture, Design and Planning at The University of Queensland. He holds a BA (Hons) in Archaeology, an MA in Museum Studies, and a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Queensland, alongside degrees from the University of London. His research focuses on the social and cultural dimensions of material culture, cultural heritage interpretation, and sustainable development in Turkey and other global contexts. He explores the interplay between material and immaterial aspects of heritage, emphasizing value construction in cultural landscapes.
Key research themes include Neolithic archaeological sites in Central Anatolia, environmental and cultural heritage frameworks, and the materiality of campus architecture. His work bridges anthropology, archaeology, and urban planning, addressing contemporary challenges in heritage preservation and heritage policy. Recent contributions include analyses of national park planning histories and interdisciplinary approaches to heritage management.
Chaddock's publications span archaeological management, museum studies, and heritage symposia. His 2022 PhD thesis examines Turkey’s Neolithic heritage as a lens for understanding identity and place construction. He actively engages with international heritage organizations, such as ICOMOS, and contributes to debates on heritage’s role in environmental and social contexts.
