Steve Cannon

Steve Cannon is a Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at the University of Sunderland, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries. He has been with the institution since 1989, initially as a Lecturer in French before transitioning to Film Studies in 2000. He holds a BA (Hons) in Humanities from Wolverhampton Polytechnic and a PhD in French Cinema from Aston University. His research focuses on European film and popular culture, expanding from French cinema to include contemporary Spanish culture. He supervised PhD students exploring topics like comparative film analysis, punk media, and digital film distribution.
