Steve Bullough

Dr. Steve Bullough is a Senior Research Fellow at the Sport Industry Research Group (SIRG) within Sheffield Hallam University's School of Sport and Physical Activity, part of the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences. His research focuses on the economics of sport and physical activity, with expertise in elite football, Test Match Cricket, and school sport programs. He evaluates national initiatives like the School Games Mark and collaborates with organizations such as Sport England and UK Sport.

Teaching responsibilities include the undergraduate research methods module and supervision of final-year projects in the BSc/MSc Sport Business Management programs. He also supervises PhD candidates and peer reviews for international journals.

Key research areas include player development pathways in elite football, professional cricket performance, and sport participation trends. His work often involves economic impact assessments of major events and policy evaluations for National Governing Bodies.

He has led projects for local authorities and National Governing Bodies, including studies on the efficacy of UEFA’s home-grown rules and the role of football clubs in community health initiatives for older adults.
