Steve Berry is the Head of Jazz and Improvisation at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). He holds a Senior Lecturer role and is affiliated with the Jazz and Improvisation department. His career began as a self-taught guitarist before transitioning to double bass and becoming a pivotal figure in the UK's jazz scene. Berry has extensive experience touring globally with ensembles like Loose Tubes and currently collaborates with Mike & Kate Westbrook. His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels, focusing on musicianship, jazz theory, and improvisation techniques.
