Stephen Xu is a Professor in Tropical Broadacre Cropping Systems at the Faculty of Science and Technology. His research focuses on enhancing crop production sustainability through plant ecophysiology, precision agriculture, and interdisciplinary collaborations. He holds a PhD from Columbia University (2006) and a Bachelor's from Fudan University (2001).
His research interests include crop response to climate factors, biochar applications, and invasive weed management. Notable projects involve dragon fruit industry development, rain-fed cotton resilience, and mushroom circular economies. He supervises postgraduate students and collaborates with industries like AgTech and sugar companies.
Recent publications explore dragon fruit volatile compounds, precision herbicide spraying, and fertilizer consumption trends. Xu actively engages in projects addressing UN SDGs related to food security and sustainable agriculture.
