Stephen Williams

Stephen Williams is a Lecturer in the Department of Liberal Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His teaching focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to art history, literature, and critical theory, particularly through the lens of Surrealism and its global legacy.

His research interests include:

• Surrealism's historical and cultural adaptations
• Intersections of art, science, and technology
• Constructions of identity and personhood in creative practices
• Sound studies and vocal representation in multimedia
• Epistemological boundaries between art and reality

As part of the First Year Seminars (FYS) program, he teaches college-level writing and critical thinking courses that prepare students for advanced Liberal Arts studies through rigorous analysis of modernist and postmodernist artistic movements.
